Lisa Hamill, MD

I grew up in NY, then moved to Illinois for both undergrad and medical school. I love meeting people and being exposed to ideas and differences.
I did my medical training at Loyola University School of Medicine. I enjoyed studying medicine and that is also where I met my husband, Nick. I had an Air Force scholarship to help pay for medical school. Nick and I did residency training at Penn State University program in Hershey, PA. My first job after completing residency was with the USAF in Dover, DE. I worked long hours with mainly newly-minted physicians where we served the active duty and retired Air Force personnel. I met and cared for people from all walks of life, enjoying time near family on the east coast. My husband was completing his training as an ENT surgeon. Once we finished our obligations, we considered options across the US and ended up in Tacoma.
Nick joined a private practice and I joined Multicare where I worked and practiced over a 22 year span. During that time we had three children - boy/girl twins and another daughter 13 months later! Those years were a wonderful balance of raising our children and practicing medicine. I’ve enjoyed having a steady and loyal panel of patients, many of whom I have known and cared for over 20 years! I can honestly say I have never been bored a day of my life at work. Medicine is an ever-changing, complex balance that is different in each person. Human nature is fascinating and wonderful. I’ve become a part of so many people’s lives as they’ve given me glimpses into theirs - I consider that a privilege. As our children left home, I’ve discovered I have more time and focus to turn back to medicine and decided to start a private practice. Dr. Pumilia and I worked together for 7 years before we left to get into private practice. He is a wonderful doctor with a great personality! I am excited to work with him again and to see what ideas and innovation we can use to serve patients and our community.
Outside of medicine, my husband and I keep busy with our children. Nate is completing studies at WSU (Go Cougs!), Olivia is at Montana State in Bozeman, and Eva is studying at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo. Nick has always been our rock and support and is a great doctor! I am proud to see the ways he serves our community with his care. We plan to travel and have dreams of an “adventure van”. We enjoy walking, hiking, and our Australian cattle dog and pug. Listening to audiobooks and podcasts also fills my time.
Dr. Pumilia and I look forward to having you join our practice!

Biography: Paul Wolff Pumilia, MD

I have been an internist for over 20 years now. I trained a LSUMC in New Orleans and Baton Rouge. This was a charity system so we treated the sickest patients in the state. This provided the training and foundation for life. I saw how important it was to take care of your patients early on to prevent major problems in the future. An ounce of prevention can go a long way.
I came out of school and was a staff doctor for LSUMC in Baton Rouge, LA. It was a great learning experience and prepared me for my private practice start in Brevard, NC. I spent many years in private practice with a large patient base that was predominantly over 65 YO. We took care of all their needs since there were very few if any specialists close to us. I took care of patients in the hospital and clinic at that time. Very hard work but so rewarding. I knew all my patients personally and cared for them like family.
The world of medicine changed a lot in my career and our private practice was bought out by a large hospital group. We thought that was the right thing for our patients. I was wrong. I saw profit and production becoming the motivation and not the wellbeing of my patients. I left and came out to Washington. I was blessed to meet my wife, Danielle. I joined a group in Tacoma and worked for 10 years in Washington. A lot of things have changed in that time. I saw the best doctors leaving due to frustration. The best doctor in my office left in 2020. That person was Dr Hamill. She saw the need for something different to provide the type of care we thought was best for our patients. That is how I came to proctor MD.
Outside of medicine my life revolves around my family. They are everything to me. I am blessed to have an amazing, supportive wife Danielle with 2 girls Alex and Coco that take all our attention and love. We love to travel, clam, grow pumpkins, and enjoy time on the lake.
I see proctor MD as the way to provide the best care possible and build that personal relationship that makes a good doctor. You have to have the knowledge base and I know that Lisa and myself have a broad and thorough knowledge to make your care the most cost effective and conservative as possible to give our patients the tools to be the healthiest they can.
